Should I put my GPA on my resume?

Should you include your GPA on your resume?

The short answer is Yes — IF it’s above 3.0 — AND IF you’ve graduated recently (less than 5 years ago).

If you’re a recent graduate, your Education section is probably more convincing than your Experience section. However, it’s still hard for a recent graduate to make his or her resume stand out. A good GPA will be helpful! You can include it right below the diploma.

Note that your GPA won’t be on your resume forever. The more you work, the less important your education section becomes. After 3 to 5 years of professional experience, you should move Experience before Education. At that point, you should also remove your GPA.
